Gates Foundation Granted Computers
Home of the former PAComputing.org This area contains archived support articles from the former pacomputing.webjunction.org site. They apply only to computers that were granted to public libraries in the United States through the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation's US Libraries Program during the years 2000 - 2003 and that are running their original secure software configuration in either Windows 2000 or XP. The information here is only relvent to those specific computers. If you are uncertain whether you have one of these granted computers, please read Is My Computer a Gates PC? If you are looking for a starting place to learn more specifics about the computers and their security and software configurations, the original user manuals (called "The Gates Library Computer Easy Guides") are a good place to start. We have copies of both Windows 2000 and Windows XP editions. Answers to specific known issues can be found in the articles under the Documents tab.
